Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

For a little change of pace:

Hearing this melody (and this specific recording in particular) never fails to make me smile.

Thanks for the recommendation. I am listening on Qobuz over my OPPO 103, since the Schiit streamer is delayed. There was a jarring transition between tracks 2 and 3 because the OPPO does not support gapless playback. Which I am confident that the Schiit streamer will.

I also tend more towards the kind of black metal that is inspired by folklore and other rustic elements.
^^^ Check out Amorphis' last three albums, as a starting point for them.
Also, while not black metal, if you haven't already done so, Nightwish needs a listen.

===========================
If you haven't seen any of Ismo's comedy, this is a crossover "reaction" from Ismo of a track from Nightwish's latest album.

*Ismo is a fantastic Finnish comedian... And having 3/5 of Nightwish along for the reaction makes this just great!

I'll check it out, thanks.

Cover pic looks like an extra from the movie "Dune"...
Precisely what attracted me to it in the first place! 😁

The best thing on U-Toob is when the fine folks at Schiit posts one of their live Schiit-Ins.
Lots of great music on YouTube. The Proms, TinyDesk Concerts, piano competitions, many live performances recorded over the last 50 years…. I always assumed it was just amateurs showing off or keyboard cat, and of course there’s plenty of dreck, but a friend (my piano teacher) encouraged me to use it as a resource for learning how some of the classical repertoire is played, and I’ve since found it to be an almost endless source of entertainment. Well worth paying for commercial free streaming. You might be missing out 😀
Last night my wife and I watched a Doobie Brothers 50th Anniversary concert at Radio City that the algorithm popped up. Not a bootleg, pro video and quality audio, possibly sold on DVD. How it ends up on YT or what the rights situation is I can’t say, but happy to enjoy it.

I love metal and hard rock, but as soon as I hear growl vocals, I'm out.

*Except for Isis' Panopticon. That's grandfathered in.
I agree for the most part, but there are some exceptions. If ALL the lyrics are growling I'm out full stop. However there are some instances when a little enhances it such as Unleash the Archers, Trivium, etc... and I'll allow it.

How come they have a Spock's Beard but not a Spock's Brain? C'mon!
Hehe, Am I blind, I've looked at this list quite thoroughly and still don't see them on there (could be the Dyslexia). I'm a huge Spock's Beard (especially Neal Morse and all of his numerous projects). But I like pretty much anything Prog...

Like me, my cats would rather watch TV than listen to jazz. So without Marilyn Manson, what's left? 🤣

As if:

1. Your cats were there of their own free will.
2. They still have the ability to hear.
