What are your “tastes” to-date? (E.g. Dvorak, or Tschaikovsky, or Borodin, or, xxx - fill in the blanks)? I have Schiit tons of duplicates on LP in mono and stereo I’d be happy to spread the love… guidance required though… my collection is mostly classical and romantic eras… not a huge fan of “scales”
I will think on that, this is the time of day I devote to reading. Honestly I have been so busy I am not even sure what all I own. I generally do a deep cleaning on classical records, listen on one of my shop systems then sit down for serious listening. I am doing so much woodworking I have not set up my ultrasonic tank since I cleaned 75 records for a young friend. I kept waiting for her to bring the remainder but she brought me other projects instead.
Thanks. For ripping FLAC foobar2000 has output bit depth choices of 8-bit, 16-bit, 24-bit, and 32-bit. Of course 8-bit would not be acceptable. Forgive my stupidity. I should have asked "Is there an advantage to ripping at higher than 16 bits?"

maybe some users of bad software/firmware/hardware that can't do correctly the fairly trivial FLAC decompression... It's kind of maddening that folks attribute to a lossless format the defects of their badly designed or implemented digital audio gear.
Generated by my internal nonsense verbiage generator. Also... I used to work for some audiophile companies... and generating important marketing keywords was just part of the job description. As well as telling the higher powers their overpriced products pretty much sucked. Hence, moving from job to job in the industry.
And just to stay on topic - avoid flat Ethernet cables, they can end up with a lot of crosstalk issues and interference. If you’re going the (wildly useless) direction of audiophile networking don’t forget to upgrade your coax
I run flat ethernet cable along baseboards to switches when I have no choice. I monitor my ethernet links, no issues, and the baseboard runs are well away from anything sensitive. From switches to audio gear, the aforementioned Blue Jeans Cat 6.

Must say I really enjoy reading this forum and it's become one of my daily to-do's. The knowledge and impressions around here is truly appreciated. The cats & drinks too.
Anyhow, been enjoying Schiit gear a long time now, I've owned Jotunheim 2, Modi Multibit v2, Vidar 2, Aegir OG and Bifrost 2/64 (which I still own). The Aegir got me hooked on the class A sound and what a nice little amp that was, blowed me away.
So my setup now is a Luxman L590AXII (30w in class A) with Epos ES14N speakers. Dac is Bifrost 2/64.
With the Gungnir 2 release and also the Yggy+ GS2 sale, I can't stop thinking about the next upgrade. I do love my Bifrost and the setup sounds really good. But you know, always wanting that extra something.
I do find my setup balanced with a little warmth in the midrange which I enjoy. Sometimes the bass is a tad to much on certain tracks but that's mainly a placement issue. Treble is smooth and airy. Alot of details but never tips over. If I miss something it's perhaps a even bigger soundstage.
So, what do you recommend me? I'm right down the middle on both and really can't decide. But that Yggy+ is certainly a great deal!

That's the other problem with black. It keeps attracting all these primates that spend their time hooting so loudly I can't hear the music.

I purchased a new Gungnir 2. I've been a Schiit buyer for years, and I like silver.
Recently, Schiit charges more for silver. Going for a larger form factor (Gungnir from Bifrost), I'll replace 4-5 modules. From 50$ to 100$ per piece, that's unnecessary for sound quality. Black it is.
I had never listened to an Alan Parsons Project album, so i went into it unfamiliar but aware I would hear sound quality songs that I had heard before. "Don't Answer Me" came on I was in Passive Mode on the Freya N. At first I thought this sounds a little like Supertramp and perhaps I am familiar with it from a movie score or something.
In the background i was assigning it to a relative space in the archives of synapse, but then another thing happened. I had imagery, feelings, perhaps a memory, you know one of those things where you get unexpectedly transported to a place and time by a piece of music: an audio-scape. I was driving the icy streets in the snow and fog in a certain part of town. The city lights, the traffic lights, the black silhouette of trees against the illuminated low clouds, it was a remembering of time and place. It was actually a part of town that I would have spent time in the days when this song would have gotten radio play while travelling to see friends excitedly braving the elements on a weekend night. Weird. I listened to the rest of the album and then circled back. There I was again in a time and an old familiar climate that is probably a couple of hundred miles north of here by now.
I listened to some other music suggestions, and then lit up the tube stage and circled back to "Don't Answer Me" one more time. It was not the same. Perhaps the gain stage had diluted the acuity of the whole scenario. Whatever. This deserves a spot on a playlist, I don't think I have ever created a play list based on a , passive, buffer, or tube gain stage.
