Normally I wait for someone else to start such a thread, but a mini-MJ3 is what I was hoping for when Jason was talking about a new product recently. Looking forward to impressions from early buyers.

No negative feedback. High Class A bias. I bet this puppy sounds amazing. Schitt had to answer the AUNE S17Pro EVO with something. This is a lot cheaper.

My only reason for not buying on day 1 is the need to buy all new cabling, hahaha. I literally have zero single-ended interconnects/headphone-IEM cables (I've traded or given all such away over the past 10 years or so; my IEM cables are 4.4mm terminated at least). It makes out of pocket for the new (silver, of course!!) Asgard a bit higher as I'd need multiple new cables (or adapters, which I usually despise using) just to be able to use my non-IEM transducers.

EDIT: hahaha, I just realized I'll need to spend more on new cables/adapters than the total out of pocket for the Asgard itself. Been around this hobby for a minute, so this is basically a built-in acceptance at this point.

Ordered. (Along with a Mesh DAC card for my Lyr 3.) My house next week ought to be flooded with solid state goodness, with the Asgard X and Mjolnir 3 incoming.

I guess it depends on how $$$ your cable preferences are. In the case of my Valhalla 3, I decided to try out WBCs Pro Quad RCA cables, and thus far they are pretty good. In my case the adapter situation was a little costly due to me getting the same brand as my headphone cables. I will most likely have to get a 4pin XLR to 4.4mm adapter when I order my Asgard X.

Aside: I will be getting a new cable for my ZMF headphones that is 6.35mm terminated.

It looks good, the 4.4mm impedance will be a close call on low ohm planars. The 1/4 inch plug has the same power so not a big deal. I liked the Asgard 3, smooth for listening all day without fatigue. Looks so good too.
Yeah, I will have to use the SE out for my SJY Audio headphones for sure. Asgard 3 was also my starting point in the hobby, so that is also influencing my purchase.

This amp is more like the old Asgard or Asgard 2 per Jason. I VERY much liked the Asgard 2 and I did not like the Asgard 3 at all. So, I am much more interested in the X. But, having a couple Asgard 2's do I need the X? Yes, of course I do.

But will a new Joutenheim be on the horizon? Schitt has been updating and releasing new amps at breakneck speed.

Only time will tell, yet it will most likely drop on a Wednesday. 😉

@sacd lover The last time Jason spoke about upgrading Jotunheim he said, if memory serves, he wasn't sure what more he could do to improve the design. Then again, he's said that about other amps he's eventually upgraded too, although they tend to morph into something unexpected at that point. Historically the v2 release adds missing features from the v1 edition, and v3 is typically the one which turns the v2 architecture or approach on its head. It's all part of what makes Schiit unpredictable and exciting.

I think I remember Jason also insinuating that the Asgard line was going away. I wouldn't be surprised if the Jot got an upgrade within the year.

Regardless, I just ordered the 'X'.

Mine will be here on Saturday with the Mesh DAC. I've owned tons of Schiit including Asgard 2, Asgard 3, Mjolnir 3, and multiples of all the DACs from Modi to Yggy. I should be able to provide some decent impressions in the upcoming days.

I am in the camp of absolutely loving the sound of the Asgard 2, while Asgard 3 is pretty darn low on my amp ranking list. Mjolnir 3 sounds really close to Asgard 2 to me ,so as long as this strays closer to the MJ3/Asgard 2, it should be right at home here.
