Hello im new here and i was looking at purchasing a scarlett solo for my at2020. I was wondering if its fine to use this AND a DAC/AMP combo as well. Would there be any issues with where the sound comes from whether its the DAC/AMP combo (like a schiit stack) or the Scarlett, in other words, Would the scarlett prioritize? Or can you simply switch between the audio devices no problem.

Microsoft Windows (in the Control Panel > Playback tab) can switch between different audio output devices.

Thank you for your input. I knew you could switch audio devices but I heard someone say something about not being able to use any other audio device whilst having a Scarlett Solo plugged in. Unless its plugged into the Scarlett directly. I just want the Scarlett strictly for my mic, and I want my headphones to be plugged into my Schitt stack. Thanks for clearing this up!

The tab next to the (Control panel > Sound) Playback tab is the Recording tab.

Why not just plug your headphones into the Scarlett Solo?

There's some kind of setting in Windows and OSX where you have to set the Scarlett as a dedicated input device and then the DAC or DAC-HPamp as your dedicated output device. Note that in this use case you will not be able to use the interface to send a signal to studio monitors, you have to use the DAC-HPamp or the HPamp connected to the DAC to that without going back to those settings to set the audio interface as both input and output device.

Why not just plug your headphones into the Scarlett Solo?

30ohm output impedance and something like 15mW at 32ohms, 0.5%THD. Even the Fiio X1 is a better amplifier.
