I'm thinking about getting a new sound card to replace my SB Live! Value. In an earlier post, I read that hissing/cracking from the Live could actually damage speakers. Is this a danger to my Ety ER-4S headphones? Should I pull them out right now?

Anyway, I was thinking of getting some sort of Audigy card, since they were released fairly recently, and gaming is also pretty important to me. Do the Audigy cards fix the hissing/cracking problems of the Live? Are there other cards I should consider?

Wow, thanks for that link! I'm ALMOST sold on the Santa Cruz now, hehe.

One question though -- Does EAX even matter at all for headphone gaming? EAX is just for normal speakers, right?
