Sanyo M5550 "walkman" problem...

just bought one used off of Ebay...

I want to try and fix the problem which is no sound out of either headphone jack of the unit. Playing a tape, I hear a very faint "click" when I insert the headphone plug as if some signal is coming through, but nothing else...

so far, I've done...
1) pulled the back cover off and sprayed electronic parts cleaner into the volume control pot.
2) sprayed the cleaner into the headphone jacks.

still nothing...

any thoughts? this is a vintage unit that I may have to keep for parts if it i can;t figure the problem out....
