I need an advice on Sansui Integrated Amp model AU-X701.
Working, no mods.

How reliable it is and how much it worth?

Is it good for headphones or can be used with speakers only.

What about tubes? Are they good / can be changed?

Thank you.

p.s. should be moved to amp forum, sorry.

i'm not 100% sure on 80's Sansuis, but if it's anything like my 9090db (as indicated by the 120wpc) then it's fantastic when it comes to speaker sound. Sansuis in the 70's pretty darn powerful compared to amps today. headphones, might be overpowered by these amps, but speakers are rocking on these things. i would test it if possible, or test any sansui amp for that matter (pre 90s). value, i wouldn't know where to start. i would goto audiokarma.org and see if they have an idea on it. hope this helps.

Sansui AU-X701 (1987)

This would depend on if the unit has been damaged or repaired by someone who was not qualified, or if the unit was stored in a high humidity environment. If it is working currently, it may continue for many more years or develop a problem any time. As to value, check eBay, Audioweb, or Audiogon for similar Sansui models.

It would depend on the specific headphones you plan to use.

No tubes are used in this model amplifier.
