I have been using a Sansa Clip for years. Just recently I bought some Fidue A83 IEM and the combo can sound good.
 
Just wondering what I am missing compared to higher priced sources. Thinking on the line of Fiio X3ii or similar price range

I've just sent a PM to you about the X3ii I have for sale.
 
I also have Fidue A83's. I use them on my FiiO X7 and X5ii DAP's. Have also used it on the X3ii in the Gym and the combo sounds very good.

I'm a huge fan on the Sansa Clip.  I've had my Clip for a decade +/-.  It's been great as long you have a realistic expectations.

My Sansa Clip just broke, one connector of the headphone jack came off the PCB.
 
So I got me a XDUOO X3. Can't compare the two, since my clip is the trash, but I would say that the Sansa Clip played very satisfying.
 
The XDUOO X3 plays very well too, but I now can hear the room also, where the musicians are plying in.
 
Tough I find that the Sansa Clip with Rockbox was easier to use.
