Samsung Galaxy S7 - Best next audiophile phone?

Listened to huawei mate 8 today and i have to admit, based on memory, it sounds better than the exynos s7 i demoed a week back. Mate 8 sounds full. It felt like s7 scooped a morsel out of the mids/lower mids. But the huawei mate 8 is huge as screw.

I'm still finding it excellent with my SE846's. Found it was the UHQ upscaler that was introducing the electronic background noise in quiet sections. Turned that off and noise gone plus sounds no different anyway with it on.

Its nothing special, just a sun £15 one that has Controls/Mic like an iPhone cable. I can't hear any difference to the included Shure cables myself.

ditto that.  Looking for something to replace my Sony Z1 compact with similar screen size.

I'm looking to see what the new Apple iPhone 5SE is about today. If its iPhone 5S size with 128GB RAM option it might be my new pairing for the Chord Mojo. My eyes are not as good as they used to be so I still need a larger screen phone for everyday use so 5.5-5.7" screen needed and the S7 Edge has to be the smallest 5.5" out there.

I think it will be more to the tune of 16/64Gb or 16/32Gb. I don't expect a 128Gb version. We'll know in a few hours anyway.

Lol, why would 128gb ram be enough of storage ? I don't see how...especially if you collect FLaC and WAV files

Tidal streaming with some playlists offline when no data connection available (plus ~8 DSD albums I have).

Anyway. Nothing new from Apple really and will stick with my Z5 mini for use with Mojo.

They don't make any difference, just a matter of personal preference as the actual SQ is handled by the DAC

I beg to differ.

I've A/B'd the U.S. S6 and S7 Edge with an Oppo HA-2 and prefer the S7 sound. Little brighter and clearer in the highs.. same program on both, no EQ at all.

I can also attest to doing the same comparison, albeit with a different cable, into my laptop with the same songs and same program. Way different sound..

A DAC "does all the work" but the device changes the sound too.

Depends on the App. If the app has its own audio driver like UAPP then it's delivered bit perfect to the Mojo. If using standard music Apps then Android will scale all tracks to 48/192 so the phone conversion is then likely to "colour" the source material.
