sacd to mp3

maybe a stupid question but i was curious whether there would be a difference in the sound quality of compressing a sacd disc to mp3 vs. a regular redbook cd to mp3.
there are discs that contain both formats and it would be an interesting experiment.

Since redbook can be extracted digitally to a computer, you can do a clean transfer to MP3. With SACD, you'll need to to ADC so that's a point where you can lose some resolution.

If you want to store lossy higher res files, use vorbis or AAC as they support 24/96.
