Finally got the Denon RCD-CX1 from Denon a few days ago. Now, after some 15 hours worth of SACDs and a few hours more of plain CDs and optical feed off my macbook pro (2007) via Apogee Duet or direct into the CX1's DAC, I am pleased with this compact one piece SACD/Receiver unit (made in Japan, unbelievable)
I will be comparing the sound with a Grace M902B shortly, once I get both units set up.
So far, I like the sound of the Denon AH-D7000 with this SACD receiver a lot more than straight off the Apogee Duet's DAC but not necessarily straight off the Headroom Max amp with plain CDs.
With SACD's, it gets a little complicated as the sound with optical out from CX1 to Max gets more bass but the overall clarity is not improved. Frankly, it's hard to tell any difference. I am hoping with more hours, the difference will become apparent.
So far, with many different sources; SACD or CD or Apple lossless, the Denon RCD-CX1 is very capable driving the Denon AH-D7000 directly.
