Sabaj A20d 2022 is $419 with the ES9038Pro, with LDAC Transmission, Balanced Out, MQA, USB-C input, AND it comes with a 1W Headphone Amp built in, all during a period of inflation on just about everything.

I currently have the Gustard X16, and while I do like it, I was looking at the Sabaj A20d 2022 and tried to figure out why I shouldn't have that instead. I couldn't think of a reason.

I'm in a consolidation mindset right now, so if I get enough clean power from this alone, I can sell off my Monoprice 887 that I've long enjoyed, bringing my stack down by a unit (or two).

Some of Sabaj's previous releases are measured and well reviewed, so I think it's worth a shot. Ordered mine.

Purchased the A20d 2022 retail via Hifi-Express. Shipping was via DHL Express for me in the US (no extra cost, which was a nice surprise), and it arrived in less than a week from China, which was impressive.

I tried the Headphone Amp section today, running 4.4mm Balanced with my Hifiman Edition XS.

If I didn't already have a Lokius and Monoprice 887, I could very much get away with listening via the built in amp on high gain. I went to about 70 out of 99 max on the volume knob with the built in HPA and didn't hit any intolerable distortion. I missed my EQ too much to use this full time though. I think that's the next step in a DAC/AMP like this, built in hardware or software EQ/DSP. That would make this an absolute monster IMO.

The LCD screen is much better than my Gustard X16. With the remote I'm able to move between and select menu options pretty quickly. It's obvious it's an LCD screen though, as the background screen is a milky black/grey like most edge lit LCDs. Maybe OLED in the future for a slightly higher price?

The A20D 2022 is much lighter than the X16 as well. I also quite like the design and choice of silver, along with the handles on the front of the case.

I really liked my X16, but I'm liking this more, and I'm sure the ES9038PRO has much to do with it.

I don't quite understand why this hasn't gotten more attention? Are people unsure of trying Sabaj? I don't think they are that new of a company.

A little off topic, but I'm in a similar boat on the Balanced Headphone Amplifier side. I currently have a Gustard H16, and saw that the Sabaj A20H was being sold at almost half the price with similar features! (fully balanced input and output, digital volume control, three gain settings) Unfortunately, the shipping has taken a while, (it has been almost a month) with the item just arriving in our local sorting center. I'll report back on it when I get it.

As far as headphone amp performance, it sounds good to me through my IEMs, and it is able to drive the Hifiman Edition XS on Low and High Gain. At 1W @ 32ohm it's not going to blow anyone away, but will be just enough for most instances.

I use the XLR out to my 887 and Lokius with no issues. The A20d 2022 really does make something like the X16 a poor value now compared to it.

If the measurements are true, then this competes well with SMSL, Loxjie, Gustard, and even Topping. Topping uses stronger amps and gets better measurements, but also costs more.

Staff from Sabaj's store on Aliexpress told me that the 4.4mm HP outputs for both A10d and A20d aren't true balanced outputs, what is contrary to what is advertised for model A20d.

Well I did it.. And... Holy crap.

I have a diablo and a set of DT-880s 600 ohm. I also have a pair of Mackie SRM 215 V-Class PA's and a pair of DRM-18s to compliment.

I have had the pleasure of listening to electrostatic headphones. I hvae been lucky enough to walk into rooms with vintage Fischer setups.


There was a time in my life that I had not heard music, and then there is my life after the A20-D.
The imaging clarity and reproduction of tracks that I have listened to literally thousands of times are like brand new. I am absolutely floored. I have a 96k xlr coming shortly I'll post some graphs of what I can do with my limited setup. >>Just holy crap.

I'm curious about this dac amp. I've heard for singxer sa1 there is not much room to turn the volume knob with sensitive iems. For A20D, I'm wondering about noise floor/hissing, channel imbalance and whether it is difficult to control the volume knob for sensitive iems.
