My Name Is Buddy is a new record by Ry, the 2nd in his trio of "concept" cds he has released, Chavez Ravine being the first.

I love all his work, Paradise and lunch is my fav, but the story behind Chavez Ravine makes me love that album almost as much.

In MNIB, the songs are written from the point of view of a cat, a mouse, and a toad. It is set in the 30's similiar to Chavez Ravine. You can read about it on the last page of the new Stereophile, or allmusic has a ridiculously long write up.

The most interesting thing about the new album is it was mastered on iTunes!!!

I picked up a Ry Cooder cd with Ali Farka from a small shop based on the recommendation from the guy working there. I'm really enjoying it and it's not the typical stuff I usually listen to. I just asked for something a little different, more world ethnic and this is what I got. I really like it.
