Hey guys,
Just wanted to let you know that I've been running with an iPod for the past four weeks and haven't had a single skip. I usually jog four 7 minute miles on weekdays, and then run a 5:46 mile on Saturdays (followed by a hill workout). Nothing on Sundays as exercise is illegal on the church day. I haven't had a single skip or problem. I love my iPod!
I used to have a Nomad Muvo with armband which was significantly easier to carry but had less of a selection of tunes and no random play. My iPod 15gb has about 7 gigs of workout tunes in a playlist that I have set on random play. I also have it in a Vaja iVod case (Vaja rocks!) and put this case inside a Timbuk2 iPod case which protects it extremely well and keeps it fairly weatherproof. I use KSC35s as my headphones and they rock and never slip off. The only discomfort I have is holding the iPod in my hands rather than attached to my arm, but I've gotten used to it. I also never change the song playing as it would require me to fumble with the iPod out of it's case (I don't have the remote anymore as I sold it on eBay to fund the Vaja case).
It may be an HD player but the low rpm and high shock rating makes the iPod a decent jogging companion. I don't think I've been as impressed with an MP3 player since I got a Rio 500.
