RudiStor NX-03, RPX-33 [NX03, RPX33]: Rudi rules!

Ouch- why would you spend $1500 for an amp, and only budget $500 for a front end? I'm all for the RPX-33, congrats it's a KILLER amp, but sound flows down hill. Once you've lost some signal or resolution or acquired some hash, you can't erase it, only amplify it. DACs and front ends shouldn't be afterthoughts, should be first concern.

I know but with the value of the Canadian dollar these days, unfortunately it's hard for me to justify $1200 CAD for the Lavry or the DAC1.

I can purchase the new Cambridge DACMagic for $399 CAD and this seems to be the a very good option for me right now. I'm sure that the Stello DA100 would be the perfect match but it's going to cost me $950 CAD with the cost of the shipping.

Also, apparently the Musical Fidelity V-DAC is on par with the Stello DA100 for only $350.

Please let me know if you have a better suggestion ? (At a reasonable price of course

pfillion, I would suggest you look for an used Oritek V4, V4.1, or V4.2 as far as a DAC under $500.

Thanks

The DAC-only unit is $599 and from what I read so far, this DAC is hard to beat for the price. Very interesting.

MHDT dacs are also a good choice too.

I have finally decided to purchase the Lavry DA10.

Thanks to all for your recommendations

I will try to write a small review of my new setup soon. (Lavry DA10 > RPX-33 > Edition 9)

Hello everyone,

I have a question for the owners of the RPX-33. What would be the best DAC under $500 to match the sound signature of the RPX-33 ? Update: I have finally purchased the Lavry DA10.

Thanks in advance

Patrick

Does anyone believe the rudistor site when it says that super sensitive IEMS have no noise? even UM2s???

I might use 50ohm+ headphones with a NX-03....but yikes, I've never heard any amp at 15db gain make UM2s silent...UM2s make noise just to make noise!
