I quote uncyclopedia:

RTFM is internet-speak for "Repeat the first message". It is used when the message did not transfer over the internet properly. If someone tells you to RTFM, be patient with them, and copy-and-paste your original message several times. Also, typing the message with capslock on will improve the chances that it will get through (similar to yelling on a telephone).

(Note: RTFM is also used by fans to refer to the band Rabid Tofu-Fighting Mommas.)

Here is an example irc chat using RTFM:

miket65> how do i change the color of links
redjl> omg rtfm n00b
miket65> ok
miket65> how do i change the color of links
redjl> RTFM
miket65> HOW CAN I CHANGE THE COLOR OF LINKS
miket65> HOW CAN I CHANGE THE COLOR OF LINKS
redjl> Message recieved. Sending you the information over the Cyber-Web.
miket65> Thanks, good buddy!
redjl> You are welcome, Internet pal!

SO guys, i think we all know what to do when someone says RTFM yah?

Indeed. Read the ****ing manual. It's commonly said to people who are asking questions which they could easily solve themselves by reading a manual, thereby saving the experts the trouble of condescending to bother with you.

Edit: Seems that I didn't even bother reading the message. Yes, that would be the case, indeed.

Sometimes it's really a good idea to rtfm, anyway - and be it just for entertainment, like with the manual of good old Graphics Workshop (q&a section): "Our staff schizophrenic replies (...)"
