RSA vs. HeadRoom

I have the 07 Micro amp and Micro DAC and i think they both sound excellent. Probably even a bit better than the 06 models because they're AC powered and I believe are both class A constant current as well. Absolutely clean and clear with lots of detail but tons of warmth as well. Well extended in both treble and bass, liquidy smooth in the mids, and completely effortless tones. Bass power seems almost unlimited.

I found the bass performance from all HR stuff really is world class - ive spent a lot more elsewhere and not got comensurately as good a bass performance.
I wonder what the top box they make is like....Lee

I love my HR stuff, I have the Micro Ultra stack. At least I better love it. If you like the HR stuff, check out their portable Micro. I bet it will go head-head with the Predator.

I am picking up the iBasso D2 ($199) for my portable use. If interested in a sound comparision, let me know and I can email you back.

My mobile listening is all done with an iPod, so I don't need a portable DAC. I am completely happy with my Hornet.

When I'm at my desk, the Hornet gets its signal from a HR Ultra Micro DAC. They work beautifully together. It's just music: well-recorded instruments and voices sound the way I know they are supposed to sound from having played them for most of my life.

Yes, a Predator would clear up some desk real estate -- but I'm not going in that direction for two reasons: (1) for travel, I like the Hornet's ability to use disposable batteries (not easy to charge a Predator at 35,000 feet over the Atlantic); (2) I really think I can hear the difference that ASRC makes in a DAC.

I can't imagine changing any time soon -- unless the forthcoming Wavelength Proton is utterly to die for.

Sweet setup. I have the full micro ultra stack but I miss the quality of a good portable amp. HR is coming out with some new amps that will fill the big hole below the portable micro and the air/bit heads

I have just received my Desktop Max/Max with stepped option and DPS and have to concur with the two opinions above. The bass seems inexhaustible, like there's a nuclear reactor to back up the power.
