x2 for that opinion. PLUS the tomahawk doesn't take 800-1000 hrs to fully burn in, something to consider. Personally, I use my amps about 2-3 hrs per day and at that rate, it would take tons of days for the Predator to totally blossom.

If that's an issue, you could just hook the Predator to your computer (via the DAC), and play music continuously for a few weeks at a time. I haven't been doing this, but I might just go back to my Tomahawk for the time being while doing this, so I can experience the HUGE difference when I return to a more mature-sounding Predator.

I like all of Ray's amps, and have heard all of the portables except the Tomahawk.

With that said, I can see how people like the Predator..but if you don't need the DAC, I can't say it's worth all of the extra money as an amp alone over a clean used Hornet M.

Hornet's can be had used for $230-250, half the price of a Predator.

Ya second thought, maybe i will get the Hornet and plan something else for home usage. Now just have to wait for someone to sell their used ones

If you think the Predator is just a Hornet with a DAC, you're mistaken. The Predator's amp is far more powerful, robust, and full sounding than the Hornet's, and doesn't contain the same shortcomings as its older sibling. From what I've heard from other people, the Predator's pretty much equal to (or better in some cases) an SR-71 amp.

Everyone hears differently....but I would soundly disagree with that impression.

As far as finding a used Hornet, there's been 9 or 10 here alone in the last 30 days. If you keep an eye out, you'll find one pretty quick.

Oh don't take me wrong, i am not saying predator is just another Hornet, i am sure there must be something difference between the 2. If not, most people wouldn't pay the extra cash for it.

What i am saying is that, i only need it for travelling, and for travelling, i don't expect quality music, because i think i will have a more power amp for home usage and mainly taking this Hornet out for flight or bus trip. Nothing against the predator
