Hello-I have a newly purchased pair of Grado RS-1's and I'm using them with my Ray Samuels Hornet amp, should I be using low or mid gain? also should I give the RS-1's 200 hours to burn in. I bought them used, but the seller only used them twice,he said.
And I have well over 200 hours on the hornet.

Many thanks,
Robert

Although technically you should use it on low setting you should experiment. There was a thread here where the users felt the sound out of the med gain was better.

The RS-1 benefit from burining at least 100 hours, preferably 200 hours. Good listening, you have one of the BEST cans.

The only time I use the high gain on the Hornet is with 650's. With my HHF-1's I use mostly low.

wrong.

Even with the "best" amps the gain needs to be set correctly to match the impedence load and headphone sensitivity.

Unless youre referring to a high end amp that has some kind of auto-calibration that automatically adjusts gain for a particular phone.
