There's going to be an influx of new R-50 owners do to Jokers positive review.

They definitely do sound good. Although I disagree with the 10 out of 10 overall value rating (9.9 would have been better). The included tips suck so bad, that you have to replace them. LOL

Yeah but tips isn't a big deal as most people have a lot of tips.  Personally I didn't think the stock tips were that bad, yes you can find better but they worked ok for me.  I think 10/10 is fair based just on sound quality alone, for $120 you can't do much better than the R-50.

Reading joker's review and ratings now, I feel like Rock-it made an april joke on me by sending me a pre-production sample or something.

or maybe you just didn't like the sound of them, just because Joker likes them doesn't mean that everyone has to like them.

I love the sound, I just hate everything else about them. Mostly the build quality. I'm just waiting when they're going to fall apart.

Heck I even hear quite a bit of microphonics regardless how well I wrap the memory wire around my ear.

I just don't get it. It's not like I haven't used 50 IEMs already and I agree with joker usually.

I know they aren't built like say the tank like e-Q5 but I didn't think it was all that bad and the silicone cover would protect them from braking and like Joker I didn't hear a lot of microphonics at all.  I mean for $120 just the SQ is worth the price alone.

My R-50 broke without much abuse. I think it has something to do with the tropical weather humidity. Similar to dba-02, I think the filter system could have been implemented better. The cabling looks similar to the original dba-02, which lacks some strain reliefs and can break under heavy usage. It's not bad, but definitely not build like a tank. One more thing, the warranty service sucks (non-transferable, upfront fees)

What upfront fees? When I asked about my lose memory wire, they told me they'd replace it but didn't mention any fees. It would require to ship the phones to HK or China however.

Also, shermanator's pair stopped working on one side on the first day he got them.

I am in the tropics with a high relative humidity.  But I take care of my IEMs very well.  The braided cable is stronger than it looks.

I am really interested in getting the R50.
I own a RE0 now and would like to upgrade.

Would anyone be able to compare the R50, RE0 ?

EDIT : I have ordered the IEMs.

Ordered it 2 days back, But I have not received a tracking number yet.

Thanks a lot.

I'm thinking about getting the R-50s but the one thing that turned me off them was the concerns about how long they will last. I live in a sub-tropical climate and I probably will use them quite a bit. There were several reviews on Amazon that complained about how they broke after around 4 months use. Is this true?
