So im going to be getting the Ipod 5g and i was wondering, what does rockbox actully offer me? also could it screw up my ipod?

See the link up top. I have Rockbox on my ipod 5G and I love it. It allows me to listen to music which I have downloaded in FLAC without having to transcode. I highly suggest installing it. The best thing is that you can switch between the original OS and Rockbox very easily without harming the other.

I tried Rockbox for the first time today on my iPod Video.

I was extremely impressed with the range of features, particularly the ability to customize audio settings so much. (the Stereo Width setting is like free extra soundstage!)

If I can get decent battery life out of Rockbox I'd say my days of using the default Apple firmware are numbered.
