Rockbox and car charger question....

Can I use my rockbox 5G ipod and charge it at the same time with a charger? Last time I investigated this it seemed like I had to revert back to apple mode to charge it, which means I couldn't use it while charging, but I think rockbox has a feature for this... can someone clarify? Thanks.

I don't own an ipod, but I believe you can hold down menu as you insert the cable to stay in rockbox.

The USB handling of Rockbox on the iPod is not yet up to scratch. So to charge from USB while playing does not work. Well it does, but it might actually supply less charge than playing will draw.

So if you have to charge in your car, best to boot to Apple firmware, and charge there.

Charging will work with USB when connected to a computer, but still has the same problem when playing.

Charging with AC is best done with Apple firmware as well. The only time I boot to Apple firmware is when AC charging when I am away from home.

Well I got it working using the car adaptor mode and I have had no major decline in battery power over the last few days. It seems to be doing the job so far, we'll see if my battery runs out... I'm using the latest build of rockbox.
