Proved that despite its huge size the CD3000 can be shoved down one's throat.

I have a pair of HD600 but I was looking for another valid option with the MGHead OTL, just to alternate it once in a while, another HD600?.............too bored but has to be more or less the same sound quality, I was thinking in the CD3000 but with the MGHead is a mess according to some of the owners of both, something around this quality more or less, any suggestion????

Any suggestion??? It seems that I'm the only rocker here, or at least the only one with an MGHead and a pair of HD600

I tried the Beyer 770's with the Mg head and loved them. The bass if amazing and the clarity was just that much better than my 580's. See if you can audition them.

I tried the Beyer 770 (acidtripwow) and 250-80 (mine) on the RKV and my MG Head at the Chicago meeting. acidtripwow is correct they are great rock headphones. Ample bass, but not boomy. The 770 have that Beyer warm sound I'm used to with my 250-80 but more bass, highs are not as rolled off, and the ear cups are larger, less fatiguing. I listened to a Gov't Mule CD that acid had and I tried some Stairway. The vocals on the 770 were more prominent and better clarity. I did not do an A/B with the RKV and MG Head, but they both powered the 770 and 250-80 (especially).I forgot to ask if they were the older 600 ohm model or the newer 250 ohm.

I'm almost ready to make the 770 purchase myself, must throw wallet across condo!!!

What about the top of the line of the Beyers DT831/DT931 does anybody has tried those??? Are their sound comparable to the HD600?

What about the HD590, does it sound like its two brothers??

Oh no, the 590s sound completely different from the 580s/600s. Very, very bright. Pretty fatuiging in that regard. But the bass is pretty tight. Not sure how far you'd get with the mg head, however.

The sound of these 2 Beyers is quite different than the HD600. I think that they would be too bright with the MG Head.

Well it seems now that the only way to go is to get another HD600 or 580 and upgrade the cables and have fun playing with that, none of the other good candidates for Rock music, offer a decent performance with the MGHead, Grados, Beyer, Sonys, Etys, maybe an AT or an AKG.....

Hi Sovkiller!

The Beyer 931's are the headphones that Jan Meijer tested along with the Senn 600's and others and found to be the one to have with the Head. I don't remember if it was posted here or at www.headwize.com Look around a bit. I've been using the 931's and Head DT combo for a while. I have a Rega Planet 2000 and am looking to trade my setup for the new Rega Ear 2000 (black) and some 600's, my first great headphone. Perhaps a lateral trade, not up or down as the combo I have now is quite good. Just like to trade sometimes. In a moment of stupidity I traded off my ultimate head amp, a Melos SHA-Gold. Hard to top that at any price. Live and learn! Let me know if you'd be interested in trading those 600's for some mint 931's.

I've had the 590's for more than a year and have never found them to be fatiguing, and when using an amp they have beautiful tight bass, they are neck and neck with my 600's, I still have not found the right set of tubes for my mg head but I am satisfied with the performance of the 590 with it....
