What is a fast and robust email client that can handle large volumes of emails for both online and offline coming from a Microsoft exchange server.

We are talking about 30,000+ emails or 5-6 gigs per email account.

MS Outlook is a complete dog sometimes so maybe there are alternatives out there?

Umm, I use Mozilla Thunderbird ... it works well for me and I have 5000+ emails.

sounds like he's talking about server side appilcations, not home use.

You're boxed into a corner by Exchange. There are no realistic alternative client applications for Exchange servers other than Outlook. A handful of programs do exist that can communicate with Exchange, usually requiring a licensed connector, but they're not really realistic alternatives. Once you buy into the Exchange ecosystem, you're limited to that ecosystem.

You might try asking your IT department to enable Exchange IMAP access and try an IMAP email client. Most IT departments are reluctant to enable Exchange IMAP for imaginary reasons.
