So I just noticed that the red LED on the back of the card is on...

And the manual says it is an "Error LED"
But that's pretty much all I can find on it.

To you guys with a PAD... Is your red LED on?

It comes on when the card detects no input from any of the connectors, so it's not really an "error light" in the sense that it comes on when there's something wrong with the card. If I send the sound from my motherboard's onboard sound chip to the RME, the light turns off, if I don't, it stays on. Pretty simple. If you're not using any external inputs, eht light will always be on, no worries though.

Thank you.
Reason I ask is cause I was getting some wierd VERY low level noise.
After spending several hours troubleshooting. (Was beginning to think I was gonna have to return the card...)
I found the problem!

I use adjustable fans. (RPMs are adjustable)
Evidently these were cause some feedback. After switching molex connectors the problem went away.
Very wierd huh? Just thought I would share this in case anyone else had the same problem.

Fan motors create a lot of noise. I wonder if the controller for the fan RPM throws a lot of noise back into the system. Light dimmers do.

Another reason to upgrade to external DAC.
