I just installed my RME in linux and can not get this to work!

I removed alsa from the kernel so i could use the newer drivers and it resulted in my volume control bar crashing in GNOME. The drivers installed fine and i followed all the directions, but i can not get how to have this card play anything.

The mixer gives me segmentation faults once in a while, but it only displays the options of Attenuation, DAC, Input, Loopback, Monitor and Sample (Auto, Internal and Clock)

I would like this to work with XMMS and AmaroK but am very confused. Help would be much appreciated.

play something that's 24bit encoded, I don't believe there's any sort of upsampling plugins for xmms (besides crossfade that has an option to upsample from 44.1k to 48k)
