Hi all,
I am a complete beginner when it comes to DAC/AMP but I have been bitten by a strong bug and I cannot shake my urge to build a one-off (End Game), strong, foundation to all future sound systems and to bring out the very best in each headphone/iem i have and will have in the future.
My current setup is
Creative SoundBlasterX G6 DAC/AMP
Audio Technica ATH-A900
TIN T2 iem
My budget is approx £500 but am willing to stretch further if it is worth it (of course this is subjective but I am open to your expertise!)
Some options I've been toying with, which I heard are good are:
1) SMSL SU-8 Dac with (one of these) Drop + THX AAA 789 or Monoprice Monolith THX AAA 887 (the best of the three I have seen in reviews) or SMSL SP200 THX AAA 888 (The easiest of the three for me to receieve as I live in the UK)
2) RME ADI-2 Dac
A few questions have:
1) Is there a better sub £500 setup than the first option?
2) Am I right in suggesting the RME has am amp built in and therefore can be run on its own?
3) Given a 'YES' to #2, would #2 be better than #1 and why?
4) Any other suggestions?
Many thanks!
