if i import at 320kbps from an original cd then burn it to a cd using itunes to create a backup, then later reimport that cd. will quality be lost?

also, just to check, if i get a song at 128kbps, then convert to 320 kbps, will quality be gained?

i'm pretty sure the answers are yes then no, respectively

yeah basically once you go compressed, you never go back. Or you get what I'm saying. If you record an audio cd from files in 320kbps compressed audio, then you get a perfect copy of that 320kbps except its not compressed on the cd. Since mp3 is not a container format like zip, the uncompressed audio cd or wav file is really a compressed song in disguise as a uncompressed file.
