Hi all.

Just acquired a used Karma from Watson PC off of eBay and so far, so good.

I was wondering if there is any way to assign Volume Control to the Scroll Wheel so that the wheel can be used to control the volume while listening to music.

Are there any other related button assigment mods I should be aware of?

Not that i'm aware of but take care of your karma, the scroll wheel is known to break easily, as mine did.

Yeah, mine scrollwheel broke as well, one good drop on a kitchen floor did the trick. Im getting a new one and will definitly be treating that thing like a newborn. There simply isnt another DAP out there thats such a joy to use. Oh, and another thing, since the Karma has dual interface controls (the scrollwheel and the Riostick/nipple), you can break one and the thing is still more than usuable. After my wheel broke I was using the Riostick exculsively, and it wasnt that bad to be honest. Still very nice to use, just not as quick at scroll naturally. Enjoy your Karma Lippy, and treat that baby good.

I don't know if this would work, I haven 't tried it myself yet.

But to protect the scroll wheel, I thought about adding some plumbers putty to the rim of the karma, right next to the scroll wheel, so that if it got dropped and hit that area, it would strike the plumbers putty and not the scroll wheel.

just a thought.

/goes back to being a lurker.
//thanks!

first, no, there isn't a way to assign volume to the scroll wheel. That was one
of the features of the Carbon that I liked.

Second, I think the plumbers putty thing would make the karma hard to use.
The amount you would have to pack around that area to prevent the wheel
from getting hit, would probalby be insane. Besides, depending on what
the karma is dropped onto, or how it falls, unless the wheel is entire encased
in a protective substance, it would still be vulnerable. Obviously if it's
encased, it wouldn't work very well since you couldn't get to it...
