Is this really worth getting worked up over? I may be marginally involved with CanJam and so appreciate the much higher visual status of the event ads, but really the only way they could really make the layout of this place disturbing to the eye is to paste a background and lots of borders of that Tyll pic. Then I think we'd have a problem.

It's ugly and disorienting. Since English is read left to right, it makes more sense to have the sidebar on the right where your eyes can naturally flow to it from the end of the text. On the left, it is far too distracting.

Man, what a surprise it was to see a giant sidebar taking up all that space after having been sidebar-free for so many weeks! It's even bigger than the old one, isn't it? It takes up a full quarter of my screen width!
