I just got these and have worn them for 2 hours. I'm no audiophile nor do I have experience with high-end cans but music sounds good. I can hear some things I couldn't with my previous sony mdrzx600's. But they sound pretty similar. Isolation is actually really good. With a large sized head, they're comfortable but do get a little hot and if I wear my glasses the right side of my head becomes very uncomfortable. I'm not sure why but i'm hoping the problem will fix itself with time.

As you can tell, coming from what I thought were "basic" headphones, I'm not really blown away. And the fact that they are not comfortable while wearing my glasses is a huge drawback considering I bought these for the sake of comfort. I'm hoping the headband will widen out so there's less clamp and maybe then i can wear glasses with these. I may just return these as the sound itself isn't $80 worthy upgrade from my sony mdr zx600 which I bought for $40. But maybe its because I know nothing about sound quality.

The hm5 looks like it borrowed some ideas from Sennheiser 6xx series. Not a direct OEM but its hard to ignore them looking pretty close.

Senn 6xx pads perfectly fit. Along with the grill (which i can't find the picture again)

So as of right now I could pay $148+tax cdn for Sennheiser 598 or $123+tax (with exchange which went to crap) for the NVX XPT100's. I'm thinking about trying something new. I prefer straight cables like these guys have. Have many of you guys gone from one to the other what are your thoughts overall on both? Thx

I have both headphones. They are both well-balanced sounding headphones. But I can say confidently that the Sennheiser HD 598 is the better higher fidelity sounding headphone, if that's what you want to know.

I think the HD598 is the better headphone, especially at those prices. As long as you can use an open headphone.

I'm thinking of buying the XPT100 for music and movies. Does anyone know how the ear space and depth compares to the Takstar HI-2050? I recently received the Takstar and the inside of the cups are too small. Also, is the clamping pressure light enough(plus the cushy pads) to not cause discomfort over my glasses frame?

Thanks.
