Logitech V20

Tired of the insufficient performance from the tiny speakers of your notebook? Ever hated how they lack bass? Ever wanted to do a multimedia presentation or watch a movie from your laptop but the sound just doesnt seem right? Well, there is a solution, and it is the Logitech V20 notebook speakers!

Built Quality (9.5/10)

Like all logitech products, they are amazing, and they never fail to impress. The speakers look and feel extremely sturdy and elegant. No loose part whatsoever. The gray color scheme with silver edges also give them a professional metallic look. For me, the color scheme matches EXTREMELY well with my Asus Z71V.

Control (8/10)

With a built-in control panel on top of the right speaker, not only are you able to control the volume, but you can also play, pause, stop, skip, and mute your media sources. There is also a blue LED to indicate power. One major weakness, however, is that the buttons are a bit stiff to press.

Portability and Ease of Use (9/10)

Wow, while the dimensions of these speakers are quite wide and they do occupy some desk space, they are extremely light weight, coming in at less than 1.2 lbs. They also have foldable "legs" that extend out to support their stand. And yes, they come in an exceptional semi-hard carrying case! You can practically play catch with it and the speakers wont get harmed. Great for storing them in your notebook backpack and take them on the road with you.

The V20 are also very easy to set up. Simply plug the usb cable into your computer and XP will automatically recognize them. No software to install. And NO OTHER POWER SUPPLY is needed.

Sound Quality (9/10)

Amazing. These little speakers can really bump out some bass. Incredible highs and lows. Sound is very crisp and clear. With bass boost enabled, it delivers incredible deep bass and if you turn them on loud enough, you can actually feel your desk shaking. (im not lying! ) Plus, dont forget since the media source is transferred through usb, the output sound quality is pure digital and background noises that exist in onboard analog sound are almost obsolete in the v20.

Comparison and Conclusion (9/10)

So how does the v20 compare to its competitors? Putting them next to the $15 usb speakers, you simply can't compare, period.
Comparing to its rivalries, mainly the Altec Lansing XT1 and the Philips DGX320, the v20 contains the advantages of both sets. While the XT1 is slimmer in dimensions and has more accessories than the v20, it has less output power (V20: total RMS 2 watts; XT1: total RMS 1.5 watts). Also, the V20 has a more superior signal to noise ratio than the XT1 (V20: 70db; XT1: 65db). XT1 also weights slightly more, 1.5lbs comparing to 1.2lbs. The Philips DGX320 is much heavier, coming in at more than 1.8lbs, and its sound quality is not as superior as the XT1's or the v20's.

To conclude, out of all the high-end usb notebook speakers available on today's market, the Logitech V20 is definitely a winner. The sound quality, portability, and power of the V20 excel all its major competitors. If you don't mind the price, they are definitely something you want to take on the road with you or add to your line of notebook peripherals.

Pulling this one out of the archives.....just got a set of these off of the Goodwill auction site. Picked them up for $20 with shipping. They look new and the case has no marks what so ever. I like to use my laptop for netflix and these speakers enhance the experience greatly it is not surrouns sound system quality but quite impressive. Definitely recommend a set if you can fin them cheap...they are $70 on ebay.....
