I've owned the Aune S16 for several years now. Until I purchased the RME ADI-2 DAC last year it was my primary DAC. It is quite nice and subjectively it is 99.5% as good a DAC as the RME. The RME has a far superior headphone amp and tons of DSP features the S16 obviously lacks. I had fully planned to sell the Aune but could not part with it. I consider it my backup should something happen to the RME. The sad part is that the S16 was discontinued and replaced by the S6 which from my understanding is a decent performer but suffers from cost cutting measures. No Crystek clock chips or FPGA.
