I would really like to hear an iriver ihp-140. There is nowhere in my area to hear (let alone see) one.

Has anyone found a retailer that would allow a return on this type of device if you were not pleased with it in some fashion? Even allowing an exchange for something else would be a good start. How about options with extended warranty purchases?

If I could get my hands on one for just a few hours, it would sure answer a lot of my questions regarding iriver sound quality.

EDIT: My intention is to keep the iriver if the sound is good or great...not screw some retailer over.

I auditioned one from best buy and returned it no problem. Legally there's not much a retailer can do to stop you returning within the specified period.

I had the ipod 3g and the 140 side by side and preferred the sound coming out of the ipod. The iriver sounded withdrawn a bit. Moving through the music is much easier on the ipod as well.

other than that the iriver is great for all the other features.

good luck
