Hello!

I recently got MacBook Pro Retina for my new laptop.

I have transported some of the audio files with various audio format (mp3, alac, flac, dsd) and I want to normalize the volume of these audio files.

Normally, my main PC is running Windows 7 so I can conveniently do this by using foobar2000.

But I cannot seem to find any player/ways to normalize audio files on Mac.

Does anyone have a good tip for this?

Thanks a lot,

I truly appreciate any input.

Itunes uses a different tag called the iTunNORM

I use dBpoweramp to insert the tag when calculating the album and/or track gain

Hi @b0bb

Would you mind if I ask how to convert replaygain tag to itunNORM?

I was aware that itunes use different type of volume normalization but after trying many different things with mp3tag, it seems it is not working well for all the files. I have flac, alac, mp3 and I want them all be normalized like how they are in foobar.

Thank for the reply.

I have not used mp3tag.

Generating the iTunes tags is part of dBpoweramp's normal operation, it will also rescan an existing library for replay gain processing, this is when the iTunes tag is generated.

Once this this is done, the file is playable on the PC or the Mac

dBpoweramp has a format conversion utility used to convert one format to another.
It has various DSP options to change the output file.

In this case the Replay Gain DSP is used to process the input file and write the output  replay gain tags , including the iTunes one.
The music data is not changed if you keep the format the same for the input and output file format.

Take a look at the link below and you can decide if this tool will do what you want
