I did a search, and can't find any relevant information.

I need to replace the cable on some IEMs and would like to add a microphone while I'm at it to use with an android phone.    I'm thinking the easiest way would to buy something like this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vogue-red-flat-cable-Headset-stereo-W-Microphone-fit-Iphone-ipod-MP3-MP4-Earbus-/230824644399?pt=US_Headphones&hash=item35be388f2f#ht_2907wt_1001
cut off and splice above the microphone with my headphones.

problem is, I'm unsure of the quality of the cord, i don't need something amazing, but I already replaced with a cheap cord and the jack was so crap that I soon loss sound in an ear.

Any ideas or suggestions better than this?

Thanks.

With this you will not be connecting to cord...so no issues about quality
