Shell has cracked. Looking for a replacement or upgrade. Could you guys recommend something below $1,200. I do like the sound of W3. It's my 1 and only iem for 7 years.

So far I tested these and like them (Not in order of preference):

1. JHA Angie I
2. Noble 5U
3. UM Miracle
4. QDC 5SH
5. Shure 846

What do you think I should try next?

Thanks.

I've had Angie for almost a year. Love the sound, but her size does grow cumbersome at times. So only buy if you're sure this won't be an issue for you.

The UM Miracle, or Angie CIEM would be my choice of those you mentioned.

Currently, I'm using the Rhapsodio Solar CIEM. It's a bit outside of your price range, but well worth it.

Thanks! I see you have an ATH IM-03 as well.

I tried the IM-02 yesterday and was quite pleased with the mids and treble. However, the bass was lacking. Do you think the IM-03 will cover that gap of IM-02?

Yes. The IM03 is warmer, more bassy. The IM02 is more flat and analytical.

Thanks. Will try the IM-03 on my next visit to the shop. :)

Do you think it is worthwhile to reshell my 7 years old W3?

What's the typical lifespan of drivers?

I read somewhere it's like 12 years, but don't quote me on that.

If you still love the W3, and it fulfills you, then, sure, get as much use out of it as you possibly can.
