My girlfriends iPod headphone jack appears to have died suddenly yet the line out on the bottom seems to work ok (3rd gen 40gb). I'm assuming for the moment that its just a contact problem. Are replacement jacks available anywhere or will I need to solder a flying lead and jack out the original hole as a replacement?

I'm hoping that the amp hasnt blown on the board or this could be a complex repair. Problem is, we dont want to pay $270 for a used service replacement when a new one doesnt cost much more

Also, does anyone have a link for the high capacity batteries?

i doubt that you could easily find a replacement jack.. They are most probably proprietry and definatly SMD, and potentially impossible to hand soldier
