Hello all,
I have a pair of Brainwavz S1 that I've been very happy with. However, tonight the cord started causing intermittent dropouts in the left monitor, meaning the copper wires have probably broken inside. Insert sad-face here. It appears I can't find them for sale on Amazon anymore, so not sure they're being produced. Besides, I'd like to try something a little different!
There are so many options out there, I'm having trouble finding a recommendation for a similar-class replacement for these in-ear headphones. Here are some qualities I like about the headphones, for comparison:
1) Great noise isolation, I use comply T-400 tips on them
2) Really good all-around sound, nice bass details
3) Flat, sturdy cable w/45° ministereo jack. I am actually surprised that the cable broke after 2 years of use
4) Cost, $60 for the S1s when I bought them 2 yrs ago.
The main feature I'd look to improve upon from these headphones: better soundstage in mids/highs, these phones definitely needed a little boost from EQ adjustment to round out the sound. I'm a huge fan of my Sennheiser HD600s, but those are simply too large/impractical for airline travel and for taking on the road. So I will definitely need an in-ear style replacement to suit travel needs.
Price range of $50-100 is pretty solid, though if there's an incredible pair at just above $100, I'd look at them. Fire away with reccos! Thanks.
