So I picked up a pair of the ATH M50 with the removable cable mod, I'll be using them exclusively for portability headphones while using a better rig at home.

That being said, the detachable cord that comes with it is still 11 feet long, being rather new to the audiophile community, where can I get a decent replacement cable to plug into the jack that's say maybe 3 - 5 feet long. Preferably decent looking, any recommendations? I don't know how the cord affects sound quality, what kind of jacks you need to actually plug into the headphone etc.

I'd really rather not invest in the removable cable mod, and then have a junk cable ruin my sound quality.

Appreciate the help,
Jake.

Would something like say this - http://www.amazon.com/Mediabridge-Stereo-design-accomodates-smartphone/dp/B004LTEUDO/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1352693494&sr=1-4&keywords=monster+3.5mm+cable

be any less effective than buying a replacement cable for a higher end headphone such as something like this - http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/shop_online/headphones/noise_cancelling_headphones/accessories/qc15_audiocable_acc.jsp&color=bl

Or am I going to get the same performance either way?

That mediabridge one will do.
That Bose cable is probably as cheaply made, if not even more so.  Probably less durable.
If you want a microphone, then there's the Monster cable with Control Talk.
Or the same cable minus the microphone is available on eBay for $10 if you want a red cable.
