My Triple.Fi 10's broke, again. I'm just too fed up with the Logitech build quality. They're still under warranty and seem to be willing to give me a refund (got them on Amazon for about $150). I listen mostly to indie rock (flac files primarily) from an HRT HeadStreamer from my laptop or my Android Galaxy S. I liked how fun the Triple.Fi's are, but just don't want to deal with the replacement process (especially since apparently they won't be back in stock until April!). I'm reluctant to spend so much more than I did on the Triple.Fis, but it seems like the best options for what I'm looking for are much more expensive.

Anyone with experience with these have opinions about the Westone UM3x, 3, 4s or SM3v2s? Other suggestions I should consider? The triple.fi's were not quite as comfortable as I would have liked, so moving up on that front would be good.

I'd love to move all the way up to something like the JH16's, but that just isn't in the cards at this point.

Thanks!

The first time the nozzle of the right headphone broke. That was about 3 months ago. The second time (yesterday), the point where the cable connects to the left unit broke, exposing the wires inside which got disconnected and so it is unusable. Not to mention I have gone through my share of crappy cables for $30 each.

That's a little unusual most people would agree that other than the ultra crappy cable the TF10 build quality is pretty good. From what Ive read I think that the W3 are your best choice as they are supposed to be semi-similar to the sound sig of the TF10. From the Westones Ive tried build quality is a step above the TF10 and the cable is really really good. They are also more comfortable. But as with any headphone it will only last if you take care of it.

I think the nozzle thing was more of a fluke. The separating cable port thing seems pretty common from the Triple.Fi user appreciation thread.. I do take care of them: keep them in the travel box, etc. Maybe just bad luck on my part. But since they are being discontinued I don't want to go round and round with Logitech until my warranty runs out.

W3 has a similar sound signature to the TF10, you could always get them reshelled into customs

Yea the w3 is pretty much the tf10 but with more mid bass bloat.  Then again, the w3 fits in your ears so much better than the tf10.

I had never before considered getting a remold, but this seems like an interesting idea. Because Logitech will refund my $, it seems like I could get the W3 for about the same price as a Fisher remold. I have also read a little about the Unique Melody remolds, though those seem to be a bit more and would take much longer to get back. Does the remold change the sound much? How would the sound compare between a remold and the W3? Between Fisher and UM, what do you think are the best options?

Thanks for your thoughts!

A remold is not suppose to change the sound, but in a PM with a member here, he said his did change, and in a way he does not like. He did a TF10 remold through Fisher. Now dont let this scare you, plenty have had them done without issue, just making sure you have more info for your decision. I am currently waiting for my TF10 reshell from fisher. A great benefit of having a custom is never having to deal with tips again.
