I am wanting to recable my dt990 pro. Picked up a senn cable from soloz2, he mentioned to remove the coating with a solder pot or iron. I don't have a pot and my iron is a weller 30 watt that doesn't seem hot enough to remove the coating. Any one know of a chemical that will dissolve the enamel? I have access to a wide variety of chemicals and was wondering if acetone would do this? If a iron is recommended please tell me the wattage or temp needed. Thanks for your help.

I dipped the enameled wire in flux and then dip into melted solder on the iron to burn off the enamel. Need to do this repeatedly until solder stick to the wire.

And have also used a butane cigarette lighter as well. Just don't over do it and melt the wire.

I put it in the flame of a butane lighter and that burned off the coating.

You are better off using some canare or mogami quad for your recable...
