those remasters are very nice and definitely an improvement over the previews editions..but i am a little dissapointed,at least from the older albums like dark side, atom heart etc. i wish there were just a tiny bit more highs to the overall sound..a little more sparkle. (i should probably listen with my RS1's) and i wouldn't mind them taking off all the hiss and dirt from the sound, like in the beatles remasters where you don't hear any hiss at all...well almost

I think the fact that the 2011 remasters are NOT compressed and they didn't add any unnecessary treble boost is a very positive thing. The problem with most of today's rock is the treble-happy production. I believe the new remasters are a welcome relief.
I have the DSOTM Black label Harvest CD from Japan, the first batch meant for USA sale according to the coding on the inner part of the CD, and to me the new 2011 remaster of DSOTM sounds almost exactly like my Japan Harvest CD. I could not tell any difference, so I did not bother getting the 2011 remaster or DSOTM from iTunes.
If you have not listened to my speakers and the computer setup, then you do not know its resolving power, and you can not easily determine anything about it like you say....I know what it does.. Believe me, it has lots of resolve.
