Hi,

I am confused when it comes to evaluate the build quality of both inears:
The Hifiman has a metal case...but I read quite a few posting about broken devices and a bad customer service --
but everything may have changed, since the reports were not that current...
And the Etymotics has a flimsy looking plastic case.
Both has no changeable cables...

At that price tag I want a reliable inear.

BUT: I did not own any of them!

How can I untangle all these informations?

What is the current state?

Thank you very much in advance for any help!
Best regards,
mcc

My Ety hf5 have been used at my desk at work for over 5 years. I think if you take good care of your IEMs, they can last a very long time. On the other hand, if you stuff them in your pocket, sit on them and/or let them get knocked around in a bag full of heavy gear, then they might only last you 30 days.
