I have successfully rewired the RB880 tonearm to Cardas Incognito wires with xlr plugs. I can not test the rewired turntable yet as I am waiting for a balanced phono preamp. I am going to test the wires with a multimeter as soon as possible.
It would have been easier and less expensive if tge Rega phono cable had been balanced.. At the cartridge there are 4 wires but unfortunately Rega cables only have 2 wires. So I could not simply remove the rca plugs and install an xlr plugs.

I bought the kit from britaudio. Fortunately I do not give uo fast. I am a noob when it comes to soldering and rewiring. I succeeded installing the kit. There was not much documentation provided. Only some text. I did tests with the multimeter and everything looks ok. I am still waiting until July for the balanced phono preamp.

Hi,

I have just received the cardas rewiring kit for my RB 880 on P8. After reading the instruction, I am still not clear on where to connect the thin ground cable (somewhere inside the vertical column) of the tonearm? Hope you can give me some advice, thanking you in advance.

Does that mean that you are using mainly the existing length of the black colour wire (Rega original grounding wire for the tonearm body) and cutting short the black colour wire (from the rewire kit) that runs from the base of the golden colour base plug (rewire kit), then solder them together?

If so, have you investigate how the Rega black colour wire is being soldered to the tonearm body? That is the thing that I lack in information.

I do not recommend the rewire kit. For more information ask the seller please. I have destroyed the black cable by doing it on my own and I had to buy another tonearm

I recommend you to terminate the original Rega phono cables from RCA to XLR.

I sold the Rega Planar 8. I am not a fan of Rega anymore. I have a Project X8 superpack turntable with "high-end" phono cable and xlr 4 pin

And the xlr rewire kit is not fully balanced as there were only 2 wires available. There should be 3 internal wires wired in a balanced cable.
