Just a heads up for those that remember Gong or those who would perhaps like to sample some Australian/French, progressive rock/ hippy trippy weird stuff/avant guard jazz.
If you are in the UK HMV are currently reducing the Gong "Other Side Of the Sky" 2CD set to £4.99. Gives you tracks from all the albums right through to the stuff with Steve Hillage and beyond to the Here and Now era.
Picked a copy up today and spent the afternoon listening to it. I had forgotten how barking mad Gong could be, some great playing on there as well as the out and out looney stuff. It gave my wife a massive headache though so be warned ...
Anyone else out there like Gong ? I mean any band that has tracks called "Squeezing Sponges Over Policemans Heads" and "Radio Gnome Invisible" (you have to say the last one with a heavy French accent, Radio Gnome Inviseeebla) can't be all bad, can they
