I was recently going through my CD collection trying to figure out which ones my son took (but that's another story) and found a few that I haven't listened too for such a long time.

I found the Beatles White Alblum and gave it a listen. It was like finding an old friend..

What CDs are tucked away on your shelves that warrant rediscovery?

I dug out It's A Beautiful Day by the band of the same name a couple weeks ago. I'd forgotten how hauntingly beautiful parts of that album are. Like you said, it was like getting reacquainted with an old friend.
