As noted in the title I'm attempting to buy over-ear headphones - unfortunately I know absolutely nothing about OEH, so would sincerely appreciate recommendations from the subject matter experts
 
The Particulars:
-I'm looking to spend around $300 - maybe a little more.
-I'm buying these for my brother and he mostly listens to loud music (punk, I think? is that still a thing?) with some acoustic thrown in.
-He also travels a great deal so noise-canceling would be nice.
-During my initial search, I found Sennheiser Momentum & V-Moda Crossfade M-100...yes? no? Are they like apples & oranges?
