Currently, my entire sound 'chain' for computer audio (starting with Foobar 2k) and CD player (starting with the RD-VH7) is:
Foobar 2k -> Xitel MD-Port DG1 -> Acoustic Research Master Series Multi Layered Fiber Optic Cable (4 Meters) -> Kenwood DM-VH7 (20kbit DAC) -> Kenwood RD-VH7 (used as an amp and CD player) -> Coincident TRS Speaker Cable -> Coincident Triumph Signature UHS
I'm wondering where the weak points of my system are and what components should they be upgraded to for an audible improvement in sound quality. I was also wondering whether a hi-fi soundcard connected in an analogue fashion to my amp will result in higher quality than the digital setup I have now. Or perhaps a PCI soundcard with toslink onboard (like an M-Audio Delta DiO 2496) will sound better than the Xitel DG1?
Any responses will be appreciated. Thanks.
