I recently purchased the SE535 after finding them on massdrop. Previously I've owned the Klipsch s4 (original edition, not the s4 IIs), and then the RHA MA750. For over-ears, which I use mostly at my desk at work, I have the Audio Technica ATH-M40x with a fiio E6 amp that came with my brother's pair and he didn't want it. What I'm wondering is would using this amp with my SE535 improve the sound at all, or would it be better to use them without? Also, I noticed the stock cable is quite stiff, though I'm enjoying the better sound compared to my previous IEMs. Would a new cable be worth the upgrade? I'm not sure how much I'd be willing to spend but probably not much more than $100. Any feedback would be appreciated, I'd like to hear others' opinions.

Thanks!

I use this cable for mine:

It's more flexible, and sounds good, but the build quality isn't great and has started to fray after 1.5 years of use.

Can anyone recommend a better cable option with microphone & volume buttons?

1.5 years for a cable sounds pretty good to me. I saw a lot of people tend to suggest silver cables for it though, can't find any for under 200 that any people recommend.
